Horror Festival Fare

  • Beyond Fest announced its lineup of 82 movies. The festival opens with the world premiere of Salem’s Lot and closes with Cloud, and runs from 25 September to 9 October 2024.
  • Paramount Scares has teamed up with Fangoria to present Dead Right Horror Trivia at Fantastic Fest on 20 September 2024.

  • 1978. Argentinian cult horror. During the World Cup final between Argentina and Holland, in times of military dictatorship, a group of torturers violently breaks into a home and kidnaps a group of young people to take them to a clandestine detention center. What begins as an inhumane interrogation turns into a true martyrdom: the wrong group of people have been kidnapped. They turn out to be part of a macabre cult guided by an unknown supernatural force. The clandestine detention center will become hell itself. Release date TBA.
  • 9 Windows. Psychological horror. After an accident that left her unable to walk, Liza trolls vloggers online. She discovers that a killer is copying other serial killers and uploading the videos. VOD, 15 October 2024
  • Depravity. Serial killer horror. When three residents suspect their reclusive neighbor is a serial killer, they break into his apartment only to uncover a hidden fortune in stolen art. But their discovery turns into a nightmare as they’re ensnared in a sadistic game of survival. Cinema and digital, 11 October 2024
  • The Forest Hills. Werewolf horror. Haunted by nightmares and dark secrets, Rico descends into madness in the Catskill Mountains. Fueled by fear and isolation, as well as struggling with a strained relationship with Mama, Rico attempts to find solace in his friendship with Billy, in an attempt to fight his demons.   • Hold Your Breath. Supernatural horror. In 1930s Oklahoma amid the region’s horrific dust storms, a woman is convinced that a sinister presence is threatening her family. Hulu, 3 October 2024
  • House of Spoils. Food horror. A chef opens her first restaurant where she battles kitchen chaos, a dubious investor, crushing self-doubts and the powerful spirit of the estate’s previous owner who threatens to sabotage her at every turn. Prime Video, 3 October 2024
  • It’s What’s Inside. Sci-fi comedy horror. A group of friends gather for a pre-wedding party that descends into an existential nightmare when an estranged friend arrives with a mysterious game that awakens long-hidden secrets, desires, and grudges. Netflix, 4 October 2024
  • Little Bites. Supernatural horror. Mindy, a young widow and mother, desperately tries to protect her daughter Alice from the grips of a fiendish, flesh eating monster named Agyar. Mindy has been secretly sacrificing her own life by allowing the creature to slowly feast on her body as she keeps Alice hidden away at her grandmother’s home. VOD, 4 October 2024
  • The Moogai. Supernatural horror. A young Aboriginal couple have just had their first child, but what should be one of the happiest times in their lives turns to terror when Sarah starts seeing a malevolent spirit she believes is trying to take her baby. Her husband wants to believe her, but he is increasingly concerned for the safety of their child. Australian cinemas, 31 October 2024, US TBA
  • Night Silence. Polish creature horror. Octogenarian Lucjan is admitted to a nursing home, where he is warmly welcomed by both the residents and the facility’s staff. However, he soon uncovers a dark secret hidden in the basement. Release date TBA
  • No Voltees. Spanish supernatural horror. Two siblings return to their hometown and are confronted by a violent, ominous presence that inhabits their childhood home. Tubi, 20 September 2024
  • Operation Blood Hunt. Werewolf horror. Prolific expert of the occult and whiskey, Reverend Conte, accompanies a ragtag group of military rejects to a remote South Pacific Island to investigate the disappearance of Marines units stationed there in 1944, said to be at the hands of the Japanese Imperial Army. Upon speaking with the island’s inhabitants, they soon discover the Marines had actually been massacred by werewolves. VOD, 4 October 2024
  • ‘Salem’s Lot, Vampire horror. Author Ben Mears returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire. Max, 3 October 2024
  • Seven Cemeteries. Witch horror. A recent parolee gets a Mexican witch to resurrect his old posse so that they can help him save a woman’s ranch from a ruthless drug lord. VOD, 11 October 2024
  • Slasher. Spanish slasher horror. When a group of unsuspecting travelers crosses his path, the son of an infamous masked slasher faces a harrowing choice: walk away from his family’s violent history or don a new mask and carve his own gruesome legacy. VOD, 8 October 2024
