Horror Book Bits

The Official Jaws Coloring Book is available for preorder, with a release date of 1 Apr 2025.
Return to Skull Island is a comic book expansion set in the MonsterVerse world of Skull Island: The Animated Series. The first issue releases on 4 Jun 2025.
Scholastic is publishing The Last Resort, a middle grade interactive mystery series in which kids can use QR codes or web links to see “’ghosts’ arise from the pages of their books and ask them questions that give key details to the mysteries”.
Reminder that the Ghoulish Book Festival is on 14-15 Mar in San Antonio, Texas. You’ll need to purchase a badge to attend panels, workshop, and live readings, but the vendor room and Saturday night mass author signing are available to all.

Horror Movie Morsels

2019 splatter horror movie Ready or Not is getting a sequel with Samara Weaving returning for it.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Jaws, there are a lot of events, screenings, and new releases happening this year. The Game of Jaws, originally produced in 1975, is also getting an upgrade with a 50th Anniversary Edition coming in May 2025.
Bride of Hellmouth, the sequel to movie It Doesn’t Get Any Better Than This, is a seven-image Viewmaster novelty toy reel, and will premiere at Unnamed Footage Festival.
Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho is developing a new zombie movie called Gunche.
Joe Bob Briggs has joined the cast for indie found footage werewolf movie The Fairfield County Four.
Timur Bekmambetov is launching Screenlifer, a new platform for screenlife movies. All the action in screenlife movies takes place on a computer, tablet, or smartphone screen. The first 2 to be approved are thriller movie CTRL and stalker movie Howdy, Neighbour!.
Neil Patrick Harris will be a guest star on Dexter: Resurrection.
Frogman is getting a sequel.
Despite 5 Oscar nominations, The Substance only took home the one for Makeup and Hairstyling.
Supernatural death metal band movie Invoking Yell is getting a sequel called Invoking Scream.

Neil Druckmann says don’t bet on there being a Part III of The Last of Us video game.

Horror Festival Fare

The Overlook Film Festival announced its first wave of programming of 47 movies (25 features and 22 shorts) from 10 countries. Opening night is Drop. The four-day festival runs from 3 to 6 Apr 2025 and includes a bunch of interactive events, live performances, and special guests.
Panic Fest is on between 27 Mar and 6 Apr 2025. The in-person and virtual schedules are available. For in-person attendees, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers opens the festival, while closing night has Clown in a Cornfield and The Ugly Stepsister.
