Watch Out. Ouija Boards are About.

6 Ouija board movies you might like if you like Ouija board movies

Don’t mess with the Ouija board.

We all know that rule but some of us do it anyway. At least, those of us who are characters in horror movies.

What can go wrong? It’s just a game, your logical everyday brain says. But in the dark corner of your mind, you can just hear your horror-fan brain whispering creepily, saying: Don’t! Just don’t!

Most Ouija board horror movies have similar tropes: teenagers, parties, bullies, evil spirits who pretend to be not evil who’ve been waiting for the portal to open so they can unleash terror.

Here are 6 Ouija board movies that range from good to bad. They may be scary or they may be laughable, but the one thing they have in common is that the characters messed with a Ouija board.

Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016)

Ouija: Origin of Evil is set in 1967.

Recently-widowed Alice and her daughters run a séance scam out of their home in Los Angeles.

Alice adds a Ouija board into her readings and believes that she has actually contacted her dead husband.

Alice’s youngest daughter, Doris, starts to use the board on her own and slowly becomes possessed by Marcus, the evil spirit they’ve been talking to all along.

Witchboard (1986)

In Witchboard, Linda uses a Ouija board that was left behind at a party and contacts the spirit of David, whom she believes is a young boy.

She becomes obsessed with talking to David and then suspicious deaths and strange happenings start to occur to people close to her. Her boyfriend and ex-boyfriend have to work together to exorcise the evil spirit.

Bunshinsaba (2004)

Bunshinsaba is a South Korean movie.

Three teenage girls decide to place a curse on the classmates that constantly bully them by creating a custom Ouija board.

One of the friends warns the others not to open their eyes until the curse is finished, but Yoo-Jin does and sees a pale girl beside her.

In the following days, the bullies all die and Yoo-Jin realises the spirit is possessing her.

Long Time Dead (2002)

College students, an all-night party, and a Ouija board. What could go wrong?

In Long Time Dead, a demon is awakened and wants vengeance against everyone involved in summoning him. [TBH, I get pretty cranky with people who wake me up too.]

One by one, the students start to die in grisly ways. As time runs out for them all, the remaining students can’t trust anyone, not even each other.

Ouija Hosts (2021)

In Ouija Hosts, the hosts of a paranormal TV show are filming in an abandoned, supposedly haunted, building.

The stories surrounding the horrifying ghosts of the mansion are about to become reality.

Ouija Shark (2020)

In Ouija Shark, teenage girls find a Ouija board washed up on the beach. They use it to summon an ancient man-eating shark. An ‘occult specialist’ [whatever that is] is called in to rid the planet of this deadly spirit.

Well, why not? Sharks have been mixed with tornados and other weird things you wouldn’t expect so why not have a ghostly one summoned by a Ouija board?

Is this movie so bad it’s good or is it just plain bad? You’ll have to decide that for yourself.
