The Haunting of Hill House is a supernatural horror story and is a modern reimagining of the 1959 Shirley Jackson novel.
In this version, the Crain family – father, mother, and five children – moved into Hill House in 1992. The idea was to renovate and sell to build their own house, however they start to experience paranormal events that increase until the result is the loss of one of their family members. The remaining family members flee but Hill House has left its mark on them all, affecting their lives in different ways.
Twenty-six years later, the youngest girl commits suicide which brings the remaining family back together, forcing them to confront the ghosts of their pasts.

In 2010, Mark Ashburn and his pregnant partner Nisha Parekh move into Marchlands and find a photo of a young girl. Nisha starts to believe that Mark hasn’t told her the whole truth about why they’ve moved there. Mark employs Ruth as a housekeeper and childminder after Nisha breaks her ankle falling from a stepladder.

In 2012, Lightfields is a bed & breakfast, run by Lucy’s nephew, Barry. Lucy’s brother, Pip, returns to Lightfields, strange things start happening, and he believes that they are being haunted by Lucy’s restless spirit.
