- Condolences to family, friends, and fans of actress Samantha Eggar. Among Eggar’s extensive movie and TV credits are horror movies such as The Collector (1965), The Dead are Alive (1972), The Brood (1979), and Curtains (1983). RIP.
Horror Book Bits
- The good news is that a new anthology of stories set in the Overlook Hotel from Stephen King’s The Shining is underway. Views from the Overlook already has a bunch of awesome horror writers involved. The bad news is that there is only 1 spot available for an unknown author. That story will need to compete with the first 500 entries submitted from the open call.
- The movie adaptation of Courtney Summers’ high school zombie novel This Is Not A Test premiered this week at the Brookly Horror Film Festival and will find its way into cinemas in 2026.
Horror Movie Morsels
- 1976 Spanish horror movie Who Can Kill a Child? is getting a reimagining called Suffer Little Children.
- Chuck Russell (director and co-writer of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors) says he’d like to do another Elm Street movie and thinks that Jim Carrey would make a great Freddy Krueger but it would have to be a “bold new direction for Elm Street”.
- Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company is developing a biopic of Bela Lugosi, but it’s probably still going to be a while before it sees the light of day. Lugosi played the original Dracula on Broadway and in the 1931 movie, Dracula.
- The reboot of 1993’s survival thriller Cliffhanger is expected to release on 28 Aug 2026 and is also getting a sequel.
- Lionsgate is releasing Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair as one complete movie on 5 Dec 2025. Originally 2 volumes, this version removes the cliffhanger ending from Kill Bill: Vol. 1 and the recap from Kill Bill: Vol. 2. The new release will also include a 7 ½ minute animated sequence.
- Good Boy received a Good Boy, Great Filmmaking Award from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
- Mattel has a new limited edition Barbie Día De Muertos La Llorona Doll.
- Human Resistance HQ is a new in-universe conspiracy theory website for upcoming sci-fi horror movie Bugonia. There are also 2 real-life billboards in New York City and Los Angeles advertising pharmaceutical products from the movie’s fictional company, both of which have been “vandalised” with conspiracy theory phrases.
Horror TV Treats
- The final episode of Stranger Things will be about two hours long and there’ll be an 18-month time skip from the end of Season 4 to the beginning of Season 5.
- The Stranger Things spinoff series will have all new characters and won’t continue the stories of any existing characters.
- Netflix is (apparently, but have declined to comment) developing a series called Prism based on a short story by Nick Shafir. in which a woman who can communicate with ghosts has to work out why ghosts suddenly appear all over the world.
- All 44 episodes of Freddy’s Nightmares (1988–1990) are now streaming on Tubi.
- Crystal Lake will screen next year in the UK and Ireland on Sky.
- The Creep Tapes is getting a season 3.
- John Carpenter is executive producing a new supernatural horror anthology series called John Carpenter Presents. Season 1 will be set in Alaska and will include “a chilling mix of supernatural and existential terror”.
- A 4-part docuseries on Tim Burton releases on 23 Oct 2025 for rental or purchase.
Horror Game Goodies
- AFAR: An Interactive Horror Film, releasing on 22 Oct 2025, combines a video game with an interactive DVD and a book in a choose-your-own-horror-adventure experience.
- The 2007 Nintendo DS game Dementium: The Ward is going to be released on Steam, although there’s no release date yet.
