- A collaboration between Barnes & Noble and movie studio A24 will see custom-designed, branded spaces curated by A24 in B&N bookstores. The spaces opened in 9 bookstores this week and more locations will be added in 2026.
- William R. Perry’s body horror novelette By His Hand is getting a movie adaptation. Perry has also written the adaptation.
- Julia Bartz’s psychological thriller novel The Writing Retreat is getting a movie adaptation.
Horror Movie Morsels
- Enter the Five Nights and Freddy’s 2 sweepstakes before 8 Dec 2025 to have a chance of winning the actual marionette used during the filming, a pizza box signed by Josh Hutcherson, and an official FNAF 2 pizza board and cutter.
- New movies happening in Jeff Miller’s ‘twisted serial killer universe’ will include Jeffrey Dollmer, where models are stalked by a doll possessed by Jeffrey Dahman, and Ted Bunny, plot details currently unknown.
- Scarlett Johansson has signed on for the next Mike Flanagan The Exorcist movie, which is an all new movie set in The Exorcist universe and is not a sequel to The Exorcist: Believer.
- Guillermo del Toro confirmed that his Netflix Frankenstein movie will have a physical media release, and it will include a deleted convent scene.
- Mattel Creations is launching a Monster High Skullector Edward Scissorhands doll on 4 Dec 2025 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the movie.
- Anaconda (releasing on 25 Dec 2025) has been rated PG-13 for violence/action, strong language, some drug use and suggestive references.
Horror TV Treats
- Wednesday, Season 3, will include Morticia Addams’ missing sister, Ophelia Frump.
- Actor Matthew Lillard says Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Carrie TV series is “brilliant” and is a “pure adaptation of the book [more] than the original movie was”. Lillard plays Principal Grayle in the show.
- The 5th episode of The Creep Tapes, Season 2, airing on 12 Dec 2025, has a Christmas theme in which Nick has an emergency therapy session on Christmas Eve but his therapist is behaving very strangely.
Horror Game Goodies
- First-person horror game Horses will be available from several platforms on 2 Dec 2025 but not Steam, where it has been banned. The game is set over 14 days on a rural farm, where you work as a summer hand under a cryptic farmer and follow “a few rules” that unravel into increasingly surreal, unsettling tasks.

Writing Horror
Applications are open for Kevin J. Kennedy’s Graduate Program in Creative Writing at the Western Colorado University. The one-year program covers both traditional and new-model indie publishing, and goes over editing, book design, proofreading, cover design, contracts, copyright, distribution, bookselling, marketing and many more topics.
