  • Condolences to family, friends, and fans of makeup artist Greg Cannom. Cannom was well known in the horror genre and had numerous award nominations over his career. He won an Oscar for his work on Bram Stoker’s Dracula in 1993 and a Saturn Award for Hannibal in 2001. RIP.

Horror Book Bits

  • In-person and virtual tickets are still available for StokerCon® 2025 (12–15 Jun 2025). Virtual attendees will have access to at least 30 livestreamed panels, 20 recorded on-demand 2025 panels, as well as recorded panels from the past 3 Cons.
  • Filmmaker Onur Terkel is publishing his first novel, Run Werewolf Run, on 27 Jun 2025. The novel is adapted from an unproduced script he wrote in 2018 and includes over 100 illustrations.
  • Event Horizon: Dark Descent is a 5-issue comic book series that is a prequel to the Event Horizon movie. Issue 1 releases on 20 Aug 2025.

  • Fantasia International Film Festival released its first wave of titles for this year’s event. Horror titles include Hold the Fort (comedy), The Well (post-apocalyptic), Anything that Moves (serial killer), Hellcat (supernatural), Mother of Flies (witch), and A Grand Mockery (psychological).

Sign up for information on casting calls for new reality TV show, America’s Next Great Author. Writers will have one minute to pitch themselves and their story in a number of towns and cities. Finalists will then be put under one roof with 30 days to write a book.
