Horror TV Treats

  • The Last of Us and Dead Ringers both received Peabody Awards in the Entertainment category.
  • Three regulars from Wednesday, Season 1, are not making the trip to Season 2. Sheriff Donovan Galpin (Jamie McShane) will appear, but only briefly, as a guest star, while Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White) and Yoko Tanaka (Naomi J Ogawa) will not be returning.

Horror Festival Fare

  • The 28th Fantasia International Film Festival is happening from 18 July to 4 August 2024 in Montreal. They’ve just announced the first wave of movies, which includes Witchboard, Shelby Oaks, Confession, Infinite Summer, This Man, Rita, Mash Ville, Dark Match, Electrophilia, Hell Hole, and Dead Dead Full Dead. The full line-up will be announced on 3 July 2024.

Writing Horror

  • Jacob Steven Mohr and Crystal Lake Publishing will be seeking submissions between 1 January 2025 and 1 March 2025 for The Joining: Scenes of Wedding Terror, tentatively set to debut in September 2025.

  • Arkham Institutions anthology (Dragon’s Roost Press)

    Looking for: Cosmic horror stories set in and around Arkham, Innsmouth, and other mythos related areas that take place in or are associated with Lovecraftian tales AND which feature a public or private institution of some sort

  • The Hangman. Supernatural horror. During a camping trip, a father battles a murderous cult and a bloodthirsty demon, known as The Hangman, to save his kidnapped son. Releases on VOD on 4 June 2024.
  • Kill Your Lover. Body horror. When Dakota tries to break off her toxic relationship with Axel, it starts transforming him into a monster with increased aggression, a touch that melts skin and worst of all, he’s contagious. Releases on VOD on 4 June 2024.
  • Handling the Undead. Norwegian zombie horror. On a hot summer day in Oslo, the newly dead awaken. Three families faced with loss try to figure out what this resurrection means and if their loved ones really are back. Limited release on 7 June 2024.
  • A Quiet Place: Day One (2nd trailer – Prequel). Post-apocalyptic horror. Experience the day the world went quiet. Releases in cinemas on 28 June 2024.
  • Boneyard. Serial killer horror. When the skeletal remains of eleven women and girls are discovered in the New Mexico desert, an extensive investigation is launched. Inspired by true crime stories. Releases in cinemas on 5 July 2024.
  • Twisters. Weather horror. As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives. Releases in cinemas on 19 July 2024.
  • The Deep Dark. French creature horror. In 1956, Amir leaves his home country of Morocco and is sent to Pas-de-Calais to work in the worst mine in France, known as the Devil’s Island. Shortly after his orientation, he’s assigned to a group that has been ordered to accompany a professor under the pretence of collecting samples. Once they’re down in the deep dark, it quickly becomes clear that the professor has another agenda and that he’s looking for something quite different. Release date TBA.
  • Latency. Psychological horror. When Hana, a professional gamer who suffers from acute agoraphobia, receives new equipment that enhances her game, she begins to wonder if it is reading her mind – or controlling it. Release date TBA.

  • It Sleeps Below the Haar. Exploration horror. Explore a secluded coastal village in North East Scotland and its surrounding forests, caves and ocean to uncover what lies beneath the fog-covered village. Releases on Steam on 31 May 2024.
