Mathematics horror anthology
“Arithmophobia,” n.: The fear of numbers or mathematics.
These thirteen stories tell us of strange and horrifying new geometries, crazed and violent mathematicians, sentient and malevolent numbers, and even some new mathematical twists on some classic monsters. You needn’t be a mathematician to experience these new forms of mathematical terror, though students of the discipline might recognize some familiar names and ideas lurking in the shadows.
So pull up a chair, dust off your abacus and slide rule, and prepare to experience … Arithmophobia.
Vampire horror
Winter 1917. After years on the run from a dangerous cult, Sasza and his father have established themselves among the Odonic Empire’s ruling class. But there’s a problem: Sasza is a vampire, and vampires aren’t supposed to get involved in human governance. What the aristocracy doesn’t know, after all, cannot hurt them.
Unfortunately, Sasza is far more involved than a stealth vampire should be. Not only does he work to quell the rumors of the vampires’ responsibility for an unsolved massacre, his lover is also the pro-proletariat Ilya, the Empire’s Finance Minister, who tries to recruit Sasza into the same cult hunting him.
Then-the Emperor declares war against the Vampire States. Diplomacy has failed. Sasza quickly learns that he will do anything to preserve peace-including giving in to the monstrosity he spent so many years concealing from even himself.

Horror collection
In the title story, a man has reached senility with something repellent in his nature. He is an impotent werewolf, no longer able to hunt, and confronts the terror of obsolescence.
In the second story, brain matter cascades and spiders loom as a psychoanalyst, self-assured in his practice, wanders along empty streets, reality warping into the irrational with the insouciance of a dream.
In the final story, in 1920s Berlin, a peaceful evening at the music hall is interrupted by a garish surprise act that only the protagonist seems to notice. Yet he, too, is transfixed by the performance, watching as a little man with a moustache, pale skin, and tired eyes wills a tiger into submission.
