  • The new Black Velvet Fairies podcast begins on 19 March 2024. Have a listen to the trailer. Black Velvet Fairies is the audio diary of a woman whose grandmother leaves her four black velvet paintings of fairies. But not twinkly, little sprites, but these are grim warriors, kings and queens. As she investigates her family’s history with the artwork, disturbing dreams and unexplained encounters pull Lucy toward a dark and dangerous fairy world that some believe is real.
  • The new weekly horror anthology podcast The Nightmare Collective begins on 19 March 2024 on Bloody FM.

Horror Festival Fare

  • The Dollhouse of Horror Festival has opened submissions for its Bite Size Shorts 2k Grant Program. The festival takes place on 8 and 9 March 2025 in Los Angeles, California.
  • Frankencon 2024, happening 10 and 11 May 2024 in Alcoa, Tennessee, will see a reunion of original cast members from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a get-together of stars from 2023’s Thanksgiving, and a rare appearance from Frank Saladino (Sleepaway Camp), among other horror goodies.
  • Blumhouse and AMC Theatres are launching the Halfway to Halloween Film Festival. Between 29 March and 2 April 2024, over 100 AMC theaters in 40 US cities will screen a bunch of horror movies. There will also be giveaways, exclusive recorded messages, and sneak peaks at upcoming movies.
  • Chattanooga Film Festival released its first wave lineup. This year’s festival takes place 21 to 23 June for in-person events, and 21 to 28 June for virtual events, and pays tribute to The Twilight Zone.

  • Slay. Vampire horror. After a booking mistake, four drag queens find themselves performing for a mostly unwelcoming crowd, but when vampires attack, the crowd looks to the queens to save the day. Releases on Tubi on 22 March 2024.
  • Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. Giant animal horror. Kong and Godzilla are pitted against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence and our own. Delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever. Releases in cinemas on 29 March 2024.
  • Spirit Riser. Supernatural cosmic horror. Two sisters are thrown out of their isolation and onto opposite coasts of America by a terrifying cosmic entity. While one sister suffers from memory loss and the other is too young to understand her own past, the girls discover they possess supernatural powers as they are pursued by the mysterious and unearthly being hell–bent on their destruction. Premieres at Museum of the Moving Image NYC on 30 March 2024.
  • Bag of Lies. Supernatural horror. Desperate to save his dying wife, Matt turns to The Bag, an ancient relic with dark magic. The cure demands a chilling ritual and strict rules. As his wife heals, Matt’s sanity unravels, facing terrifying consequences. Releases on VOD on 2 April 2024.
  • The First Omen. Supernatural horror. A young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. Releases in cinemas on 5 April 2024.
  • Breathe. Dystopian horror. After Earth is left uninhabitable due to lack of oxygen, Maya and her daughter live underground, with short trips to the surface only made possible by a coveted state of the art oxygen suit made by Maya’s husband, Darius, whom she presumes to be dead. When a mysterious couple arrives claiming to know Darius and his fate, Maya tentatively agrees to let them into their bunker but these visitors are not who they claim to be. Releases in cinemas and on digital on 26 April 2024.
  • Pandemonium. Psychological horror. Nathan and Daniel die in a road accident and as they come to grips with their deaths, Nathan confronts his past and the consequences of his actions. Now trapped in the hellish void of Pandemonium, he encounters tortured souls like Jeanne, a disturbed child, a grief-stricken mother; and the guide of the great void. Releases on VOD and Blu-ray on 27 May 2024.
  • The Crow. Supernatural horror. Soulmates Eric Draven and Shelly Webster are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right. Releases in cinemas on 7 June 2024.
  • Dead Mail. Killer horror. On a desolate, Midwestern county road, a bound man crawls towards a remote postal box, managing to slide a blood-stained plea-for-help message into the slot before a panicking figure closes in behind him. The note makes its way to the county post office and onto the desk of Jasper, a seasoned and skilled “dead letter” investigator, responsible for investigating lost mail and returning it to its sender. Release date TBA.
  • The Fetus. Supernatural horror. A couple struggles to learn the truth about the origins of their unborn child. Release date TBA.
